Charlton supports Community Police proposals to make communities safer

Dundee West LibDem parliamentary candidate Michael Charlton today (Wednesday 25th April) announced the party's plans for improving safety and cutting crime with 1,000 additional community police officers.

Michael said, "The Liberal Democrats want to recruit 1,000 extra community police officers to cut crime and make local communities safer.

"We would give enough funding for the police to provide at least two additional community police officers in every council ward in Dundee to provide visible local policing.

"This would make a real difference in cutting problems of anti social behaviour, and keeping our streets safe.

Michael continued, "These will be dedicated local officers, known and trusted in their community.

"Links to community groups such as neighbourhood watch would be improved by providing a dedicated mobile phone number for local officers.

"Community Police Officers would provide email updates to residents on law and order issues in their neighbourhood.

Michael concluded, "A more direct link to local police officers can really help tackle problems."
