Dundee LibDems support World Water Day

Dundee LibDems today (Saturday 22nd March) gave their continuing support to World Water Day.

In 1992, the UN General Assembly designated March 22 as "World Water Day" to draw international attention to the critical lack of clean, safe drinking water worldwide.

Despite the apparent abundance of clean water in the US and most of the developed world, more than 1 billion people around the world lack clean, safe drinking water and more than 2.6 billion lack adequate sanitation services.

Cllr Helen Dick, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Strathmartine Ward and a former City Council Vice Convener of Environmental Services and Sustainability, said, "We are again pleased to give our support to World Water Day to highlight the need for safe drinking water for all across the World.

"It is good to see that the motion in the Scottish Parliament raised by NE Scotland LibDem MSP Alison McInnes asking for parliamentary support for World Water Day has gained all-party support."
